Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar was a Pakistani politician and leader of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP). He was a member of the Senate of Pakistan from 2015 to 2021. He was born in 1961 in Muslim Bagh, Killa Saifullah District. He received the degree of Bachelor of Laws from Law College Quetta in 1987. During his student life, he joined the Pashtun Student Organisation as unit secretary. He joined the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) in 1996. He was elected to the Senate of Pakistan as a candidate of PMAP in 2015 Pakistani Senate election. He ran for the post of the Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan as a candidate of PMAP in March 2018. He was unsuccessful and lost the office to a candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party, Saleem Mandviwalla, who got 54 votes and was supported by the joint opposition. Kakar received 44 votes and was supported by the Pakistan Muslim League (N), the ruling party. He died on 21st June 2021. For the past few days, Senator Kakar was under treatment due to his illness in Quetta then he was shifted to Karachi. He was 60 years old. His family confirmed the news of senator’s demise. Mr Kakar was shifted from Combined Military Hospital, Quetta to Agha Khan Hospital, Karachi. He got injured by falling down. Mr Kakar was born on 21 July 1961 in district Qila Saif Ullah, Tehsil Muslim Bagh. He had done his Masters in Economics and had got degree in LLB. He started his political career during his student life. He joined Pakhtunkhwa Student Organization in 1977 and became central leader of the organization. After completing his education, he took part in practical politics from PkMAP platform. He contested the election for the seat of the Balochistan Assembly in 2002 but he lost it. In 2015, he was elected as senator and after remaining as senator for six years, he got retired from the Senate this year.
